Algeria is one of the key strategic partners of Ethiopia since the two nations established diplomatic relations in the late 1960s.
The PM and First Lady Zinash Tayachew together with a delegation arrived in Algeria’s capital, Algiers, for a working visit, the PM office announced on Sunday afternoon.
Abiy and his delegation were welcomed by Algerian Prime Minister Ayman Ben Abdul Rahman welcomed upon their arrival in Algiers.
Later, Abiy laid a wreath at the commemorative stele of the Martyr’s Memorial in the capital, and observed a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs of the National Liberation War, the state news agency APS reported.
During his visit, PM Abiy is expected to hold discussions with the President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The two countries signed more than 20 cooperation agreements in different fields, including trade, investment protection and promotion, and avoidance of double taxation.
