A Japanese cargo ship has been hit by a missile in the Black Sea south of Ukraine, reports Japan Times.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced on its official Facebook page that the Panama-registered cargo ship "Namora Queen" was hit by the Black Sea on Friday.

A Japanese cargo ship has been hit by a missile in the Black Sea south of Ukraine, reports Japan Times.

One member of the ship was also wounded. According to Reuters, a Russian missile struck the ship's hull, causing it to catch fire.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced on its official Facebook page that the Panama-registered cargo ship "Namora Queen" was hit by the Black Sea on Friday.

The ship is a shipping company based in the western Japanese town of Imbari, and officials say all 20 members are Filipinos and one has sustained shoulder injuries and the other 19 are unharmed.

The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is investigating the details of the attack.

Russia has not yet commented. In other news, Japan has imposed sanctions on Russia over its assets, including those of individuals and banks.
